At Russian gas stations, gasoline is becoming much cheaper. This became reported on Friday, March 11. Thus, on the St. Petersburg International Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, since February 28, the price of AI-92 gasoline has decreased by a whopping 24.5% and amounted to 36.8 thousand rubles per ton, AI-95 – by 22% to 40.1 thousand rubles.

‘There is already a decline in prices at gas stations, especially those owned by independent networks that buy gasoline on the exchange, through traders or directly. In particular, from March 1 to March 5, fuel prices were reduced in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Syktyvkar, Salekhard, the Irkutsk region and Primorsky Krai,’ RBC reports.

At the same time, it is noted that this will not affect Moscow gas stations, where fuel prices are remaining stable and showing no increase. President of the Russian Fuel Union Yevgeny Arkusha said that gasoline is becoming cheaper at those independent gas stations where its price was much higher than at large oil firms.

Dmitry Gusev, vice-president of the Independent Fuel Union, expressed the opinion that the cost of fuel has changed for several reasons: an increase in supplies by large companies to the stock exchange and the provision of gasoline by Belarusian producers, who previously sent it to Ukraine and the Baltic states.

An interlocutor of RBC in one of the federal departments said that the reduction in gasoline prices is not becoming massive. It is noted that the stabilization of the cost contributes to the flow of fuel to the exchange.

Earlier, on March 10, the price of gasoline in the US for the third day in a row updated the historical maximum. On average in the country, a gallon (about 3.8 litres) of regular unleaded gasoline, which corresponds to AI-92 gasoline in the Russian Federation, now costs more than $4.31. This is the highest value ever recorded.

On March 9, US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm called on national oil producers to increase energy supplies to stabilize the situation in the oil market after the ban on oil supplies from Russia. Source
