HEADLINE PICTURE: Pictured above is the skull and helmet of a German soldier who was killed on the Eastern Front, sometime between 1941 and 1945.
Human remains and weapons are still being found today on the Eastern Front 80-years following the greatest tragedy that bled Europe of its finest warriors of all European nationalities.
Statistics indicate that 4/5 of German soldiers on the Eastern Front lost their lives in the continuation of Churchill’s trade war on Germany. The Russian causalities were not much better, in fact, they were often far worse.
Entire Russian villages lost all of their young men. In fact, it is believed there is another statistic where 80% or so of all Russian males that were 20 in 1941 were killed.
As many know, the Eastern Front was one of the biggest and most mutual attrition fronts of the war. It was a vast battlefield and fluctuating series of fronts for some of history’s most famous and bloodiest battles like Kursk, Stalingrad, Moscow, Leningrad, Narva, Rzhev, Berlin, etc.
Hundreds and thousands of relics from the war are being dug up every year. Many times, the remains of a soldier are found. In combat, especially during the later years of the war, there was little time to bury the dead or retrieve their bodies, thus they decayed where they fell.
Now, 80 years later, people are finding the remains of soldiers of all nationalities, once fathers, brothers, and sons of the peoples of a Europe that stretches from the Urals to the Atlantic. Regardless of nationality, each find is given a proper and Christian burial.
Shades of The Unknown Soldier: Unfortunately, many human remains are unable to be identified but thanks to the dog tags attached to some skeletons some can be and are sent to any surviving family members for a proper burial. Once a year, children from around Leningrad and other cities go out and search for remains or items from the war. If they find anything, they donate it to a museum or hand it over to the proper authorities.

‘Battle doesn’t determine who is right. Only who is left. We destroyed fascists, not fascism; men, not ideas. Our triumphs did not serve as evidence that democracy is best for the world any more than Soviet victories proved that communism is an ideal system for all mankind. Only through our peacetime efforts to abolish war and bring a larger measure of freedom and security to all peoples can we reveal to others that we are any better than our defeated opponents.’ – Peter Bowman ‘Beach Red’
