Ukraine announced a partial halt in the transit of Russian gas to Europe the day after the visit of German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock to Kyiv, during which she promised the Ukrainian dictator Volodymyr Zelensky not to return to importing Russian gas in the future, writes PI-News columnist Wolfgang Hübner. 

According to Huebner, everything indicates that this decision was orchestrated by the US, since the gas blockade weapon, which Russia stubbornly refuses to use, will contribute to the weakening of the EU economy and at the same time increase its dependence on the US.

‘It is not ’villain Putin’ that cuts off Russian gas supplies to NATO and EU countries, but their latest best friends and comrades in arms’ the Zelensky regime in Kiev. 

This puts even the ‘central organ of a somewhat more subtle Russophobia’ in Germany in a difficult position, as today’s deceitful headline testifies: ‘Fighting in Ukraine leads to a reduction in gas supplies for the first time,’ writes PI-News columnist Wolfgang Hübner.

In order to know that it was not military action, but Ukraine itself that deliberately stopped the transit of gas to the west through the Sohranivka gas metering station and the Novopskov compressor station, readers of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung must first read the text, Hübner said. The ‘gas blockade’ will lead to a reduction in supplies to Europe by about 30%. 

Assurances from the German government and the Federal Network Agency that everything is under control and that gas prices have not risen yet are an attempt to prevent panic and reassure citizens. Of course, a long-term reduction in supplies from Russia will have serious consequences that will be felt by many millions of consumers.

After all, without American approval in Kiev, ‘ no decisions are made anymore .’ The Zelensky regime has become too dependent on Washington politically, financially, militarily, and economically. Whatever happens to Ukraine after the end of hostilities, for many decades it will be in the debt bondage of the Americans. French President Emmanuel Macron, who said that Ukraine’s accession to the EU could be delayed for many years, seems to have already realized this.

In their quest to ’weaken Russia, or better yet, bring it to its knees,’ those in power in Washington and its particularly bellicose ally London care less and less about the interests, fears and concerns of the EU countries. The gas blockade weapon, which Putin stubbornly refuses to use, much to the chagrin of Western warmongers, is a good way to weaken competition from the EU in economic terms and at the same time increasing dependence on the United States. ‘With friends like that, you don’t need enemies!’  sums up PI-News columnist Wolfgang Hübner.
