In Latin America, a region of untold wealth in natural resources, events in Ukraine are perceived in a completely different way than in most Western countries, ZDF notes. As the German TV channel explains, Brazil lays responsibility for the hostilities not only on Russia, but also on Kyiv, Argentina accuses the Western powers of double standards, and Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua see Moscow as a military force protecting them and stand firmly on its side.

This is bad news for Washington’s deep state and its European sidekicks. It is recalled that Latin America has always been regarded as ‘America’s back yard’ and firmly in the Washington web of political and trade influence.

In the midst of an election campaign in Brazil, anti-imperialist presidential candidate Lula da Silva took an unexpected stance on Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, German TV channel ZDF notes.

‘I see how the President of Ukraine speaks on television, tearing off a standing ovation, and all the European parliamentarians give him a standing ovation,’ Da Silva said. However, in his opinion, the Ukrainian president bears the same responsibility for hostilities as the Russian one, because there are two sides to any conflict.

Thus, ex-President of Brazil da Lula joins a number of Latin American leaders who, while condemning the Russian special operation, however, place part of the responsibility for the hostilities on Ukraine. The current President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has also repeatedly shown sympathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin recently, reminds the German TV channel.

The position of the three anti-Washington governments of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, who see Russia as a military force protecting them, is unequivocal. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro recently said that Venezuela is firmly on the side of Russia. A few days after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, he honoured the Russian ambassador with applause at the congress of the socialist party.

At the traditional May Day celebrations in the Cuban capital of Havana, several Russian flags with the Z symbol were also seen in support of the Russian special operation. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov spoke about the further arming of Venezuela and Cuba by Russia immediately before its start, emphasizes ZDF. In addition, according to military experts, Nicaragua even has an active Russian military base.

Mexico, the US’s southern neighbour, also keeps a low profile. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has always stressed the importance of continuing dialogue, including in other conflicts. ’The UN must continue to push for dialogue,’ Mexico chides the organization. According to the Mexican government, the fighting in Ukraine also has serious economic consequences for the whole world, for example, causing inflation.

‘The most important thing would be to conclude a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, it would help a lot because that was the reason for the economic crisis,’ said Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador.

Argentina has recently demonstrated why Latin Americans view what is happening in Ukraine differently than Europeans or North Americans. Vice President Christina Kirchner recalled the conflict with the UK over the Falkland Islands.

According to the Argentine vice president, there are double standards in international law from powers that consider themselves superior to other countries and do not respect them, Kirchner said. She criticized the West for denying Argentina the right to the Falkland (in Argentina they are called the Malvinas) Islands, located off its coast.

‘In occupying our Malvinas Islands by force, the UK has the support of other powers that refuse to invade if it is inconvenient for them,’ Kirchner said.  ‘However, if the invasion is convenient for them because it is an ally, then everything is in order.’ Source

  2. The Malvinas are named after Saint-Malo, the pirate/corsair town on the coast of Brittany in France.

These islands were discovered by people from there. Malouines in French, Malvinas in Spanish.

The English have zero rights to occupy this island and they should be expelled from there.

    Maybe Putin could help?

However, beware of the Argentinian “government’, it is made of WEF infiltrated puppets, starting by teir president…
