Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi regrets that some European leaders have shunned his attempts to bring Russia into the ‘camp of the West.’ In his opinion, if this happened, the situation in Europe today would be different. Berlusconi believes that the conflict in Ukraine has shown not only the isolation of Russia from the West, but also of the West itself from the rest of the world.

‘What the Ukrainian crisis has shown us is an alarming sign for the present and especially for the future. Sure, Russia is isolated from the West, but the West is isolated from the rest of the world,’ Berlusconi wrote in an article for il Giornale.
