MOSCOW, 9 June. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin is sure that in the modern world, states can be either sovereign or colonies, there is no intermediate state.
His remarks clear infer to the nations of the European Union and other countries who have exchanged independence for politically or financial direction and dependence on others. For example, the 27 nations of the EU have transferred decision-making to Brussels and Washington.
The nations of the European Union no longer have independent ministries of finance, defence, media information, trade and much else.
The Russian President says, ‘The world is changing, and changing rapidly. And in order to claim some kind of leadership, I’m not even talking about global leadership, but at least in something, of course, any country, any people, any ethnic group must ensure its sovereignty.’
The head of state was addressing a convention of young entrepreneurs on Thursday. ‘Because there is no intermediate state: either the country is sovereign, or a colony, whatever the name of the colonies,’ he explained.
According to him, the colonies have no chance to survive in a tough geopolitical struggle. If a country or a group of countries is not able to make sovereign decisions, it is already a colony to a certain extent, and the colony has no historical prospects, or chances to survive in such a tough geopolitical struggle.

Putin noted that he did not want to name specific countries ‘so as not to offend anyone,’ but added that the geopolitical struggle has always existed.
