Columnist Michael Brendan Dowerty points out the obvious: that Russia’s victory in the special operation in Ukraine could be the second major defeat for the United States after the debacle and retreat of American and NATO troops from Afghanistan.

He writes about it in an article for National Review .

According to Dowerty, the victory could become even more triumphant for Russia, given the efforts of America to create additional costs for the country.

‘Vladimir Putin President of Russia will be able to announce that he won not only over the nationalists in Ukraine but also over the Western powers,’ the author writes.

The problem for the Western alliance – and it is a massive game-changing outcome is that confronted by the combined forces of the United States and its NATO cohorts numbering 30 nations, the Russian Federation won easily and it did so in months. Furthermore, Russia will have proved in real battle situations that its combined armed forces and their weaponry are far superior to its NATO challengers. Who will want to be a customer of America’s arms complex from here on?

The victory of the Russian Armed Forces over the Armed Forces of Ukraine, quite possibly, will sow panic among the leaders of other states supporting the Ukrainian side, while the US authority will weaken.

‘After the humiliation in Afghanistan, this will be the second major defeat for the US-funded and trained army in the past two years. And this risk is quite real, ‘concluded the observer.

Earlier it was reported that the White House doubted that Ukraine would be able to return the lost territories. The US presidential administration is less and less confident that Ukraine will be able to return the territories that have come under the control of the Russian military. Source
