Jeffrey Sachs, head of The Lancet’s coronavirus commission, is convinced that the coronavirus pandemic was the result of a leak from an American biological laboratory situated in Wuhan, Republic World reports. The specialist also spoke about the Ukrainian conflict, noting that it would not exist if it were not for the persistent desire of the United States to expand NATO further and further to the East.

Jeffrey Sachs, head of the COVID-19 committee of the prestigious medical journal The Lancet, told a conference in Spain that the SARS-CoV-2 virus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide was an accidental leak from an American biolab, reports Republic World. 

As recalled by the publication, on March 30, the World Health Organization published the first report in which the hypothesis of the origin of the coronavirus in the Wuhan laboratory was rebutted. At a conference hosted by the GATE Research Center, Sacks said, ’From my point of view, this is a biotechnology oversight, not a random natural spread.’

The chairman of The Lancet panel stressed that while we don’t know for sure whether the virus was leaked or the scenario was different, there is sufficient evidence to examine the matter.

Sachs previously published a paper co-authored with molecular pharmacology professor Neil Harrison in the scientific journal of the National Academy of Sciences in the United States, which also claims that SARS-CoV-2 was in fact a bio lab leak. In it, the scientist demanded transparency from federal departments and US universities.

Dr Anthony Fauci has been attacked for his role in funding research in the laboratory, from which, according to many, the coronavirus deliberately or accidentally leaked. In an interview with State of the Union, an infectious disease expert in the Biden administration admitted that the U.S. has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to laboratories in Wuhan for research. 

Fauci himself, although he denied conducting research on increasing the virulence of viruses in the Wuhan laboratory, admitted to Congress that such research on influenza or coronavirus was the subject of close attention in the United States.

At a conference in Spain, Sachs also spoke about the Ukrainian conflict. ’Now we have a war that could have been avoided if the United States had not pushed NATO so persistently to expand more and more to the East,’ the professor is sure.
