Paisley Schultis, who went missing in 2019 at the age of four from her caregivers’ home, was found in the private home of her biological parents. The girl lived in a cramped niche under the stairs. This was reported by the police in the city of Saugerties in the United States.

Paisley Schultis disappeared from her care home in Spencer, New York, where her guardians live. The police initially assumed that the child was kidnapped by the biological mother and father, who are deprived of parental rights: Kimberly and Kirk Shultis.

Information about the whereabouts of the girl came to the police on February 14: according to an unnamed source, Paisley was living in her birth parents’ sanctuary in their home in Saugerties, New York. Saugerties police obtained a warrant from the court allowing the search for the child in a private home.

Detectives searched the house. Kirk Shultis, who was at that time in the house, said that he knew nothing about the whereabouts of the missing girl. He was also interrogated during the investigation, the man assured that he had not seen Paisley since she disappeared in 2019. The search lasted about an hour: the police found the child in a makeshift sanctuary room under the stairs leading to the basement of the house.

Paisley’s biological father Kirk Shultis, as well as the girl’s grandfather Kirk Shultis Sr., in whose house the child was found, were charged with violating the rights of custody of the first degree and endangering the well-being of the child. They were released on bail. The girl’s biological mother, Kimberly Shultis, is accused of violating custody rights in the second degree and ‘endangering the well-being of the child.’ The court authorized her arrest.

Paisley Shultis, now six years old, was taken to the police station, according to CBS. There, the girl was examined by doctors who concluded that she was perfectly healthy. After that, the child was returned to the house with legal guardians and an older sister.
