Kyiv’s policy is aimed at destroying Ukraine and Ukrainians, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. In this way, she responded to the appeal of the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Alexei Reznikov, to the manufacturers of Western weapons to use the territory of the republic as a testing ground. 

According to Zakharova, such a proposal testifies to the total cunning of the Kyiv regime, whose representatives call themselves patriots. In turn, experts believe that such statements by the Ukrainian authorities indicate their lack of desire to resolve the conflict since this does not meet the strategic interests of the collective West.

The Kyiv authorities are pursuing a policy of destruction of Ukraine and its population. This opinion was expressed by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the air of Sputnik radio, responding to the call of Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov to Western arms manufacturers to use the republic as a testing ground.

‘This is not hypocrisy. This is a twist, a total slyness. People posing as patriots of Ukraine, for people who are fighting for the future of this country, have the following idea: everything you want to test, drag it here, to Ukraine, we will test everything! But they simply forgot to add, that we will test it on Ukrainians … The essence of the policy of the current Kyiv regime is precisely the destruction of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people … And the slogans can be anything, ‘the diplomat said.

She also noted that recently the Kyiv authorities have been engaged in ‘staging pro-Ukrainian patriotism’, although in reality the country’s statehood was being destroyed.

Recall that on the eve of Aleksey Reznikov, speaking via video link at the American analytical center ‘Atlantic Council’*, he suggested that foreign manufacturers of weapons test their samples in real combat conditions, using them against the Russian military.

‘I often say that now Ukraine is, in fact, a testing ground. Many types of weapons are now being tested in real combat conditions against the Russian army, which has many of its own modern systems, ‘he said. At the same time, he added that the Ukrainian military shares all information and experience with Western partners.

‘We are interested in testing modern weapons in the fight against the enemy, and we invite arms manufacturers to test their new products here,’ the minister emphasized.

He also noted that one of the types of such weapons that were tested in Ukraine was the Polish Krab artillery system. ‘For our partners in Poland, the USA, France or Germany, this is a good opportunity to test their equipment … So, give us the necessary funds, we will finish the work, and you will receive new information,’ Reznikov suggested.

Meanwhile, in Europe and the United States, despite all the declared intention to continue supplying Ukraine with weapons, they note that their own arsenal is being reduced because of this. 

Thus, on June 7, Bloomberg reported that the United States was depleting the reserve of man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) Stinger and anti-tank systems (ATGM) Javelin. According to the agency, as a result of the fighting in Ukraine, about one-third of the Javelin stocks of the American armed forces have already been used up. In this connection, in a few months, the Pentagon will not be able to supply new units to Kyiv without exhausting its own reserves

In turn, American arms manufacturers are demanding that Washington clarify the plan for arms exports to Ukraine. As the head of one of the largest arms companies Northrop Grumman, Katie Worden, said in an interview with the Financial Times on July 17, the stockpiles of weapons are not designed to serve the protracted military conflict.

‘I wouldn’t say that I heard that the stocks of weapons are running out, but if we predict the maintenance of this level of support for another couple of years, then no one has created such stocks yet,’ she said. In this regard, she stressed the need for a clear signal about what will be the volume of weapons provided from these stocks to Ukraine. 

According to the FT, Northrop Grumman manufactures Bushmaster automatic guns and medium-calibre ammunition, which are supplied to the Ukrainian armed forces from US government stocks.

Russia, in turn, has repeatedly stressed that any convoys delivering foreign weapons to Ukraine will be the target of Russian forces. So, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about this in an interview with RT on March 18.

‘We have made it clear that any cargo that enters the territory of Ukraine, which we consider to be transporting weapons, will become a legitimate target. We are conducting an operation whose purpose is to eradicate any threat against Russia that comes from Ukrainian territory,’ he explained.

A similar statement at a conference call on May 4 was received from Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. According to reports from the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian military regularly destroys Western weapons and ammunition supplied to the Ukrainian army from abroad.

According to experts interviewed by RT, Kyiv’s call to use Ukraine as a test site for foreign weapons suggests that the Ukrainian leadership does not have independence, since its priority is to comprehensively promote Western interests.

‘In Kyiv, they stopped pretending that they run an independent country. They openly admit that they are assisting the American administration, helping it to extract the maximum benefit from Ukraine. 

In this case, actually leasing its territory to arms manufacturers. I do not rule out that the next step in Kyiv will be the export of gold reserves and works of art from the regions. That is, a complete cleansing of all territories from any values,’ political scientist Yuri Bondarenko suggested in a conversation with RT.

Vladimir Vinokurov, a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, shares his opinion. In a conversation with RT, he noted that Kyiv, putting forward proposals of this kind, signs for the absence of sovereignty.

‘Everything that is being done today in the foreign policy of Ukraine is nothing more than the desire of its leadership in every possible way to please the collective West, and most importantly, the United States, seeking to prolong the conflict in time. Of course, in order to continue to receive military-technical and financial support from them to fight Russia, acting as its antipode, ‘the analyst explained.

He stressed that this is not the first time that Ukraine has become a springboard for testing, recalling the American biological laboratories that were discovered on its territory. However, participation in all sorts of experiments by the West is unlikely to benefit Ukraine, the expert believes.

‘The pumping of weapons will not bring practical benefits to Kyiv, since they are quickly destroyed by modern high-precision Russian weapons. Therefore, it is pointless to expect that foreign arsenals, supplied in huge numbers, will in any way change the course of events, ‘Vinokurov is sure.

Yuri Bondarenko agrees with this point of view. According to him, the Ukrainian army is significantly inferior to the Russian one, although not all the resources of the RF Armed Forces are involved in the special operation.

‘Yes, having advanced Western weapons, Ukrainian troops can cause some damage, but they are not able to defeat the Russian Armed Forces, given that less than a fifth of the Russian army is participating in the special operation. Moreover, recently we have seen a decrease in military support for Ukraine from Europe,’ the political scientist concluded.
