Few people think about the scenario in Ukraine, in which the Armed Forces of Ukraine fail. Yet, the outfought Ukrainian army is losing up to 1,000 fighters every day and billions in NATO arms shipments are methodically destroyed within hours of their crossing the Ukrainian borders.

The government of the one-party state bunkered down in Kyiv amidst high security has lost ‘thousands of the best soldiers’ in Mariupol alone, according to retired American Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis.

According to Davis, not everyone admits the thought of a catastrophe for the Ukrainian army, because it is ‘unpleasant.’ Meanwhile, the conditions on the ground make such an outcome of the confrontation possible.

According to a study by the Modern War Institute, only 20% of recruits who join the Armed Forces of Ukraine have previously fired weapons. As the Ukrainian Armed Forces are replenished with fewer and indeed inexperienced military personnel, the risk of the collapse of the Ukrainian army will only increase, the analyst believes.

‘For a number of very practical reasons that the West knows that Russia has a real chance of winning, while Kyiv has almost no such path,’ writes the American expert.

According to him, the most significant achievement of the Russian forces at the current stage of the operation will be not so much the taking of territories under physical control, but ‘the total destruction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.’
