You can’t talk about this in the West’ – an American professor accused the USA and Poland of sabotaging Nord Stream. American economist Jeffrey Sachs spoke on Bloomberg about the involvement of the United States and Poland in the sabotage of gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. 

American economist Jeffrey Sachs spoke on Bloomberg about the involvement of the United States and Poland in the sabotage of gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. As evidence, the expert said that American helicopters were circling in the area near the pipelines, which are usually based in Gdansk, Poland. The expert also mentioned threats from the US authorities that ‘one way or another, Nord Stream will come to an end.’

Jeffrey Sachs, professor of economics at Columbia University:  Europe is going through a very sharp economic downturn. The sharp decline in production and living standards is also reflected in rising prices, but the main fact is that the European economy is suffering from a sudden power outage, and now, to make it final, the Nord Stream pipeline has been destroyed. I’m willing to bet that this was the result of the US, possibly the US and Poland. This is an assumption.

Jeffrey, you have to stop there! This is a serious statement. Why do you think the US is behind this? What evidence do you have?

Jeffrey Sachs:  First of all, there is radar data showing US military helicopters based in Gdansk were circling over the area. Also, earlier this year, (President Joe Biden, and Secretary of State Victoria Nuland) US threats were announced that one way or another they intend to end the Nord Stream. 

There was also a notable statement by Secretary Blinken at a press conference last Friday in which he called the incident ‘an amazing opportunity.’ It’s strange to say that if you’re concerned about the security of vital international infrastructure…

‘I know it’s against the accepted line and that you shouldn’t say such things in the West, but the fact is that when I talk to people from all over the world, they think the US is behind it. By the way, even the correspondents of our newspapers tell me about it – of course, in private. This does not appear in our media.
