Le Pen calls for understanding between Russia and the EU for the sake of security

BRUSSELS is horrified as a contender for high office seeking understanding and a peaceful settlement with Russia looks like she could gain the presidency of France on April 24.

An understanding between Russia and Europe is an important condition for ensuring the security of the entire continent, said French presidential candidate and leader of the National Rally party Marine Le Pen on the France Bleu radio station.

Le Pen stressed that she would not want Russia to continue to strengthen relations with China. ‘The reunion between Russia and Europe is an important condition for ensuring the security of our continent and our country,’ the presidential candidate noted, agreeing on this issue with the current president of the country and her rival Emmanuel Macron (TASS quote).

According to her, in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the reconciliation between Russia and the European Union seems to be something distant, but it is necessary to look further. Le Pen called Russia ‘a great power with the largest territory and massive reserves of raw essential materials in the world.’

Earlier, the presidential candidate stated that she continues to recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. ‘I still do not deny this because there was a popular and open peoples referendum. But I would not go to Kyiv yet. Perhaps they (the Ukrainian authorities. – Ed.) will lift the entry ban when I am elected president, it would be reasonable, ‘the politician emphasized.
