Europe not only lost Russia as a strategic partner but also became a real enemy of Moscow, says Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. Speaking about Russia’s former status as a predictable partner of Europe, he noted: ‘We are now not even neighbours, but real enemies.’ 

’And now the EU is raving about the complete unpredictability of Russia, building crazy conspiracy theories, spending astronomical sums to maintain its security. The European Union has lost Russia as a long-term strategic partner. This doesn’t make us happy, but it’s a fact,’ the politician stated.

The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation also stated that energy cooperation between Europe and Russia has been spoiled or frozen for a very long time, and difficult times have come for the EU.

Europe castrated itself bloodily and without anaesthesia by refusing energy cooperation with our country. It is spoiled or frozen for a very long time. But now America, rubbing its hands, supplies Europe with its LNG at exorbitant prices.

As a result, Medvedev continued, the economies of the largest European countries, which for many years were the driving force of the European Union, showed a significant decline and will grow back (if any) very slowly. And for the weaker countries of Western Europe, this is a crappy prospect. Hard times are here to stay, he noted.

The deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council drew attention to the fact that the European Commission has worsened the forecast for growth of the eurozone economy in 2023 to 0.8% from the previously expected 1.1%. ‘Inflation in many EU countries is still going through the roof. Food products are rising in price sharply and will continue to rise in price,’ he outlined the prospects.

Medvedev suggested thinking about other aspects of the everyday well-being of Europeans. No one will give EU residents a guarantee that the next winter will not become too cold, he noted.

‘This means that the growth of tariffs for heat and everything else will continue. And no American LNG, which is sold at exorbitant prices in Europe, will help here. There has been a final failure of the pricing policy, which provided Europeans with a well-fed life a couple of years ago. These times are gone forever. Let them console themselves with the fact that they have forever overcome their dependence on energy from hated Russia,’ the politician concluded.

According to Medvedev, the European Union has lost its geopolitical autonomy not only in the international arena but even on its own continent. No matter what European leaders say, the European Union is now de facto unable to act independently not only in the international arena but even in the European field. ‘Almost all EU countries stood at attention in front of the United States and Britain and obediently began to carry out their instructions to support the ‘Plastic-Nazi Kyiv regime’. 

As Medvedev noted, dreams of the European Union as one of the pillars of the world order disappeared like smoke. The EU wasted its international authority as a mediator in any conflict. And today Europe meekly carries out any whim voiced to it from overseas, the politician pointed out.

The budgets of European countries, quite possibly, will soon not be able to withstand the influx of migrants, growing inflation, coupled with other problems, and will simply crack, says the deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. He noted that the fragile migration balance in the EU ‘has long been skewed due to waves of migrants from Africa and the Middle East.’

‘Coupled with rising inflation, the state budgets of European countries may finally crack, which will provoke acute discontent among residents, who feel the collapse of the social security system. And of course, clashes with migrants, who often receive benefits that exceed the income of native residents,’ the politician wrote

According to Medvedev, European companies have lost billions of dollars by leaving the Russian market, and it will be difficult, if not impossible, for them to return here. European companies suffered colossal irreversible losses when leaving our country. Their damage is measured in tens of billions of dollars (and with lost profits – in the hundreds). But while they may someday be able to cover financial losses, they are unlikely to cover image and reputational losses. It will be very difficult, if not impossible, to return to Russia,’ he said.

Medvedev noted that there are no voids in the market because, in the modern world, even high technologies are successfully replaced or simply borrowed. ’Moreover, we are constantly increasing our own production. And this is a unique chance to create your own competencies where there were none,’ he noted.
