The fastest aircraft in the world – the new Su-57 will surpass the best American fighters. The Russian Su-57 fighter with the new engine will be the fastest in the world and will surpass its Western counterparts in several respects, Military Watch claims.
Unlike the American F-35, the Russian aircraft will be able to fly at supersonic speed without the use of afterburners, and its main advantage will be a much lower need for maintenance and the ability to increase manoeuvrability at low speeds.
Starting in 2025, the Russian Air Force will begin to receive an improved version of the fifth-generation fighter Su-57, which will be equipped with the new AL-51F engine, writes Military Watch.
The new power plant will allow the fighter to fly without the use of afterburners not only at supersonic speeds but also at speeds of Mach two or more, which will make it the fastest aircraft in the world.

This ability allows the Su-57 to instantly respond to threats and conduct patrols much faster without compromising its flight range.
As the publication notes, the Russian aircraft is superior to the best American fighters in several respects. Thus, unlike the new Su-57, the American F-35 cannot fly at supersonic speed without the use of afterburners.
Moreover, according to Western experts, the thrust of the new Russian engine is approximately 8% higher than that of its American counterpart F119. The AL-51F is well optimized for stealth and has converging and diverging nozzles with serrated flaps to reduce radar cross-section.
‘Although the Su-57’s flight range is already more than twice that of its American competitors F-35 and F-22, the AL-51F will further increase the fighter’s flight range by almost 10 per cent,’ adds Military Watch. At the same time, according to experts, the main advantage of the Russian fighter will be a much lower need for maintenance and the ability to increase manoeuvrability at low speeds.
