MICHAEL WALSH REPORT: The Western Alliance is bracing itself for an inevitable train wreck as cracks fast appear along the 1,000-kilometer Ukrainian front – the length of Great Britain.

Air alerts are wailing up to Ukraine’s seven Western borders. The domino effect started with the imminent downfall of the city of Chasov Yar. There and elsewhere Ukrainian army morale is plummeting and defensive positions are abandoned. The pending fall of Kyiv is described as a ‘nightmare of the West’. It is increasingly likely the terrifying prospect will become a reality.

Ukraine will become ungovernable as those of the ruling party flee abroad. Millions of Ukrainians – including tens of thousands of embittered battle-hardened troops will flood into and over the 27 EU nations.

The overwrought and overwhelmed EU has few resources. The Brussels Bloc which replaced and emulated the Soviet Bloc will anyway be distracted by the thought that the Russian onslaught won’t be stopped at its borders. Another problem: Tens of millions of EU citizens sympathize and support the Russian position.

Orchestrated on-message Western media, which until recently deceived viewers, listeners and readers by talking up Kyiv’s chance of stalemate. Their predicted Ukrainian victory march through Red Square won’t happen and they will have a great deal of explaining to do.

Given the ongoing steady advance of the morale-high Russian armed forces the likelihood is growing that they could soon reach the Ukrainian capital, says The Times columnist Ian Martin.

In his opinion, such a scenario would be a disaster not only for the Zelensky regime but also for NATO, which will face a serious fight-or-flight choice. The rout and retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the inevitable defeat of Kyiv is a ‘nightmare scenario’ that Western politicians are now seriously considering.

Unstoppable events at the front are forcing London, Washington, Paris and Brussels to plan for a catastrophic collapse of the Ukrainian army as it experiences an acute shortage of manpower, weapons and ammunition, writes The Times columnist Ian Martin.

Contrary to wishful thinking that the conflict will be frozen and neither side can gain a decisive advantage, fierce fighting continues on the front lines. However, the Kremlin is calling the shots.

The Russian strategy was ‘softee-softee catcher monkey’ and the gambit worked like a charm.

Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian combatants have been neutralised. The arsenals of the NATO nations are empty as are the West’s bank vaults. Western-imposed sanctions backfired and bankrupted the Western economies. Today, Europe’s lifesaving jugular has been cut as Russia’s immense natural resources are diverted East and South.

Moreover, it is a crisis that threatens to overshadow the upcoming anniversary NATO summit in Washington, the author of the article predicts. The Fall of the Kyiv Caliphate will be an action replay of the disastrous Rout of Kabul in August 2021. NATO will be seen as past its sell-by date.

Another nightmare for the NATO West is unfolding as the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) just today confirmed that the terrorists responsible for the horrendous atrocity at the Crocus theater were paid large sums of cash and cryptocurrency – which originated in Ukraine.

This would make the European Union, United Kingdom and Washington complicit in the outrage which resulted in 149 confirmed deaths and over 200 injured theatre-goers.

The Western Alliance will try to distance itself from culpability – it won’t wash. In this case, the Western Alliance will be on the receiving end of international revulsion and isolation.

Russia’s success will have fatal consequences not only for Ukraine but will also present a fight or flight choice to the West, which is clearly divided. One thing is for certain, things will never again be the same again in the nations making up the humiliated Western Alliance.

An increasing number of EU pro-Washington governments will be ousted in the upcoming June elections. The emerging nationalist anti-globalist parties will abandon the Washington Bloc and seek reproachment with the Russian Federation.
