Media Totalitarianism Rules in the Wild West

The media now broadcast only the position of Kyiv, and any alternative opinions are simply not allowed to air, writes Freie Welt. For example, people from Donbass do not have the opportunity to express their position at all. And this media totalitarianism, the newspaper notes, is being imposed by a handful of European and US news agencies that publish fakes. All those who try to expose the fakes are dismissed as ‘enemies of democracy’, ‘dissenters’ and ‘Nazis’.

Now ‘media totalitarianism’ reigns, which is actually more typical for non-democratic states, writes Freie Welt. This is especially evident in the coverage of events in Ukraine.

The media broadcast only the position of Kyiv, and any opinions that deviate from the chosen political course are simply not allowed. ‘For example, people from the republics of Donbass, against whom an aggressive war has been waged by the US-sponsored Kiev regime since 2014, are not given the opportunity to express their position.’

‘Media and channels that have dealt with just this topic, including Sputnik or RT, are suspended from reporting events and, even worse, they are forbidden to broadcast in Germany and other EU states, they are simply censored and closed down.’

But Ukraine is just one example of this media totalitarianism. Topics covered are determined by a handful of so-called news outlets. A selection of this oligopoly* is then sorted by various newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations and spread the news further, often without even conducting their own investigations.

And the fact that as a result some of the messages turn out to be fake has become almost natural. At the same time, the people responsible for this state of affairs are absolutely not receptive to criticism. As soon as they feel that they are being exposed, they begin to snap and attack their critics, calling them ‘enemies of democracy’, ‘dissidents’ and ‘Nazis’.

‘In any case, at the moment, Germany (and EU nations) is very far from creating an objective, independent and neutral media landscape, as well as adequate coverage of events,’ the publication concludes.

* Oligopoly – a type of market structure of imperfect competition, which is dominated by an extremely small number of firms.

  1. Henry Kissinger’s quote of; “Military Men Are Just Dumb, Stupid Animals To Be Used As Pawns In Foreign Policy” is the real deal, and he really said it. It is fairly rare that the architects of illegal, imperial wars of aggression are caught saying what they REALLY feel, but this is one of those times.

“In Haig’s presence, Kissinger referred pointedly to military men as ‘dumb, stupid animals to be used’ as pawns for foreign policy.” http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=58238.0
