German companies have never gone bankrupt at such a rate as they are today. Since 2022, American-occupied Germany has been experiencing an economic crisis, accompanied by rising energy prices, interest rates, and the number of bankruptcies of German companies, writes NIUS. 

Over the past year and a half, the number of companies declaring insolvency has grown by double digits There is reason to believe that the number of bankrupt companies in the country will greatly increase and even accelerate after separating itself from its Russian trading partner.

Last year, the number of bankruptcies among German companies increased by 22.1% to 17,814 cases. At the same time, 38% more large bankruptcies were registered than in 2022, NIUS reports. And there are many signs that this is just the beginning of a long wave of bankruptcies.

Since the end of 2022, Germany has been in a state of economic crisis. The same year also saw significant increases in energy prices and interest rates in the country. 

Since August 2022, the number of company bankruptcies in Germany has been growing at double-digit rates compared to the previous year. 

There is no period in the data of the Federal Statistical Office comparable to the current trend: there has never been such a rapid and prolonged increase in insolvency as now.

The era of low-interest rates has come to an end, which means that so-called zombie companies that previously survived thanks to favorable loans and low prices for Russia’s natural resources are now facing difficulties. These highly indebted companies are now in trouble.

A closer look at which companies have gone bankrupt so far also raises red flags. The construction industry and temporary work agencies are particularly prominent in the bankruptcy landscape, which bodes poorly for the economy as both sectors are seen as indicators of processes that will then spread to other industries.
