NEWS ROOM: – The Paris state police prefecture said on Saturday it arrested and confined 44 civil rights protestors in the French capital during the Freedom Convoy civil liberties rally against government repression.

The prefecture said that what they claim was ‘a convoy of 300 cars’ was intercepted on the outskirts of Paris, adding that it towed the vehicles of protesters away from Champs-Elysees.

Earlier on Saturday, a correspondent reported that the rally of French motorists has reached the Champs-Elysees area in Paris, prompting the law enforcement to use tear gas.

Freedom Convoy is inspired by the Civil Rights rallies of truckers in Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand to name a few countries workers as an example.

Earlier in the day, the French uniformed state agents said that 500 cars were stooped and detained when attempting to enter Paris after coming from different regions to take what cops claim part in the protest.

Over 7,000 state officers and gendarmes have been mobilized in Paris since Friday to keep the city from being blocked by the protesters. Special equipment including tow trucks, military style water cannons, and truck cranes was also taken to the streets.

The scenes across Europe bear close resemblance to the disturbances that during the collapse of Soviet Bloc tyranny in the 1980s preceded the collapse of the USSR.

On Friday, the fraught French President Emmanuel Macron urged the demonstrators to remain calm. Peaceful protests across Canada involving tens of thousands of truckers, farmers and other participants opposing government repression under the mask of Covid-19 mandates evolved into an anti-government demonstration, with various groups uniting in opposition to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his government.
