There is nothing stronger than the determination of millions of people who consider themselves part of Russia’: Putin on the results of the referendums.

Former Ukrainian citizens of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the DPR and the LPR will become citizens of Russia forever. This was stated by Vladimir Putin during a speech in the Kremlin before the ceremony of signing agreements on the inclusion of new territories into Russia. The President urged Kyiv to immediately cease fire and return to the negotiating table.

The collapse of Western hegemony is irreversible, Putin said. ‘Today we are fighting for a just and free path, first of all for ourselves, for Russia. For diktat, despotism to remain forever in the past,’ the president said. He declared that this shameful page should be turned.

Along with this, the President stressed that the Russian people will defend their homeland and values from the West. He recalled that in the past, the claims of other countries to world domination have been shattered more than once by the courage and steadfastness of the Russian people.

‘Russia will always be Russia, and we will defend both our values and our Motherland now,’ the head of state said.

During his address to the people of Russia, the president spoke about the relationship between Russia and the West. In particular, the president said that Western Russophobia can be compared to racism. Europe’s most popular president said that the Western elites have remained colonial, they discriminate and divide peoples into different grades.

‘We have never accepted and will never accept such political nationalism and racism. And what, if not racism, is Russophobia, which is now spreading all over the world?

‘We will definitely rebuild the destroyed cities and towns, housing, schools, hospitals, theatres and museums. We will restore and develop industrial enterprises, factories, infrastructure, social and pension systems, healthcare and education.’ 

‘Today’s Kyiv authorities should treat this free will of the people with respect, and nothing else. This is the only way to peace,’ added Putin.

‘The choice of millions of residents in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions is our common destiny and a thousand-year history. People passed on this spiritual connection to their children and grandchildren, despite all the trials, they carried love for Russia through the years, and no one can destroy this feeling in us.

‘I want the Kyiv authorities and their real masters in the West to hear me, so that everyone remembers this: people living in Lugansk and Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye become our citizens forever,’ Putin said.

During a speech in the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin called on Kyiv to immediately cease fire and return to the negotiating table. ‘We call on the Kyiv regime to immediately cease fire, all hostilities, the war that it unleashed back in 2014, and return to the negotiating table,’ Putin said.

Elena Shishkina, deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR, said that the war crimes tribunal of Kyiv in the Donbass would take place, but the parameters of the procedure would be determined after the harmonization of the legislation of the republic within the Russian Federation.

‘We all understand that now is not the time to spend it under shelling. Criminals will not escape punishment. In what form it (punishment) will be in connection with entering the legal field of the Russian Federation, since there is a moratorium on the death penalty, it will be clear a little later, when we finally harmonize the legislation, ‘RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.
